Threadneedle appoints fixed income manager

Matthew Cobon has joined Threadneedle’s developed world government bond and currency team as fixed income fund manager.

Cobon was previously the global head of currency fund management at Aberdeen Asset Management and previously Deutsche Asset Management, which Aberdeen acquired in 2005.

Cobon used to be responsible for managing investments in global currency markets and providing key macro insight into wider fixed income investments since 2001. (article continues below)

Threadneedle says his recruitment reflects the group’s vision to broaden out its global fixed income capability and build on its franchise in this area.

Quentin Fitzsimmons, who is also lead fund manager of Threadneedle’s absolute return and target return funds, leads the six-strong government bond team.
