Hargreaves adds to Wealth 150

Hargreaves Lansdown has added funds from M&G, Investec Asset Management and Ignis’s joint venture boutique, Hexam, to its Wealth 150 list of recommended funds.

M&G Strategic Corporate Bond, Investec Global Special Situations and Ignis Hexam Global Emerging Markets were added to the Wealth 150 today.

Meera Patel, senior analyst at Hargreaves, explains that M&G’s fund was added to give investors access to Richard Woolnough’s expertise in the investment grade universe. The list already included his Optimal Income fund, an unconstrained vehicle.

She likes the Global Special Situations fund, run by Alastair Mundy, for the manager’s contrarian, value-based style, which she says should do well during a recovery.

On the emerging markets fund, Patel says, “We already have three funds in this area including Aberdeen’s and First State’s, which tend to be more defensive, and Lazard’s, which is a bit punchier. The Hexam fund is pretty aggressive so we expect it to do well in a recovery and to use it as a dovetail to the Aberdeen and First State funds.”
