Invesco Perpetual has appointed Matthew Perowne co-manager of the European Smaller Companies fund, working alongside lead manager Adrian Bignell.
Perowne will take up the role from 31 March, having worked closely with Bignell over the past two years, having been his co-manager on the European Opportunities fund since December 2015.
The group says: “Since then the pair have enjoyed a close working partnership managing the fund, with Matthew benefitting from having increasing exposure to selecting stocks across the market cap range.”
Perowne joined Invesco Perpetual as a trainee analyst in the European equities team in 2010, before being promoted to taking on fund management duties in 2014.
He holds a BA in combined arts from Durham University and an MSc in real estate from London Southbank University.
Perowne also has his IMC and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.
Bignell remains lead manager and the investment process is not expected to change, but Invesco Perpetual says the fund will benefit from a broader range of investment ideas.
Jeff Taylor, head of European equities at Invesco Perpetual, says: “Adrian and Matthew have a proven working relationship and this move looks to build on their effective collaboration, as well as being part of Matthew’s overall natural career progression.
“Matthew is a talented stock picker and he and Adrian have produced strong results for our clients.
“Matthew has a thorough knowledge of European stocks across the market cap range which should benefit the European Smaller Companies fund.”
