Hermes Investment Management has hired Robert Wall as an infrastructure partner as it plans to boost the division’s growth.

In his new role, Wall will report to head of infrastructure Peter Hofbauer at Hermes and will be responsible for originating, analysing and executing investments.

Wall joins the asset managers from the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board, where he has worked for the last nine years in both Toronto and London.

He also helped with direct infrastructure investments in multiple jurisdictions and has acted as a board director for major infrastructure companies in Europe and Australia.

Hofbauer says: “Robert’s in-depth industry experience and deep understanding of direct global infrastructure investment will help us continue to serve our clients interests and grow the business from the current £3.9bn of assets under management.

“He brings significant and highly relevant infrastructure investment experience that will supplement the high calibre of experienced individuals that make up the existing Hermes Infrastructure team”.

Wall’s early career was in civil engineering and he holds an MBA from Queen’s University in Canada and an engineering degree from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
