Henderson hires to boost emerging markets team

Henderson Global Investors has hired Stephen Deane from Stewart Investors to boost its emerging market team.

Deane will join as a senior portfolio manager, reporting to head of emerging market equities Glen Finegan, who worked with Deane at Stewart Investors previously.

At Stewart Investors Deane was an analyst and co-manager of the Worldwide Equity funds.

Finegan joined Henderson last year, coming from Stewart Investors, previously called First State Stewart.

“Stephen’s hire evidences Henderson’s continued commitment to the emerging markets equities asset class and signals the further strengthening of Henderson’s franchise working out of Edinburgh. We are certain Stephen’s global insights will be invaluable going forward,” says Finegan.

Finegan has also gained a co-manager on two of his funds. Michael Cahoon, currently an analyst at Henderson Global Investors, has been promoted to portfolio manager. He has been named as the co-manager on the US Emerging Markets Fund, alongside Finegan.

Nicholas Cowley has also been named as co-manager on the Henderson Gartmore Emerging Markets Fund, alongside Finegan.
