Fidelity International fixed income manager Andy Weir has resigned from the company after almost two decades as he leaves the asset management industry entirely.
Weir, who joined Fidelity in 1997, managed several funds for Fidelity including its International Bond and Global Inflation Linked Bond funds.
A Fidelity spokesperson confirmed Weir’s portfolios would transition to existing portfolio managers within the fixed income team, including Tim Foster, Rick Patel, Ian Fishwick and Steve Ellis, who he would continue to work with until the handover is complete.
The fixed income team includes 14 portfolio managers with an average 19 years’ experience, backed by specialist credit research, quantitative research and trading teams.
The spokesperson says Weir’s departure was a “personal decision to take time out from the industry following a long and successful 19-year career”.
