Now part of BMO Global Asset Management, F&C Asset Management Plc is an asset management company providing individually-tailored portfolios as well as a range of unitised investment funds.
F&C Asset Management traces its origins to the launch of the first listed pooled investment fund, the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, in 1868, which it continues to manage almost a century and a half later. F&C Asset Management emerged as a standalone asset manager in 1972.
In May 2014, the Bank of Montreal completed its acquisition of F&C Asset Management through its subsidiary BMO Global Asset Management for £708m. From July 2015, F&C will be rebranding as BMO Global Asset Management.
BMO Global Asset Management, of which F&C Investments is now the European hub, is a global investment manager delivering its service from 24 offices in 14 countries to clients across five continents. As of 30 April 2015, BMO Global Asset Management had more than US$254bn in assets under management (including discretionary and nondiscretionary assets).
