Former Ashcourt Rowan chief executive Jonathan Polin is to join Sanlam as chief executive of its private wealth business.
Polin stepped down from Ashcourt Rowan after it was bought by Towry in a £120m deal earlier this year.
He joined Ashcourt Rowan in 2011, and was formerly sales and marketing director of Ignis Asset Management.
Polin will head up Sanlam’s private wealth business, which comprises investment management and stockbroking services. It does not include Sanlam’s financial advice arm, Sanlam Wealth Planning.
Sanlam Private Wealth UK chairman Daniël Kriel says: “I am excited about Jonathan joining our team, and with his vast experience of the UK market and deep knowledge of the wealth management industry, he will make a huge contribution to the growth and success of our local business.”
Polin adds: “This is an exciting time in the development of Sanlam Private Wealth in the UK.
“We will be looking to leverage off the huge resources the global group has and the success of the wealth division in South Africa, Australia and Switzerland.
Yesterday Sanlam Wealth Planning confirmed it is considering closing two offices and making up to 100 staff redundant as part of plans to centralise its customer service and business support functions.
