Candriam Investors Group has hired from Fidelity and Natixis Asset Management for a push into the UK market.
Chris Davies has joined the asset manager as head of UK distribution, coming from 11 years at Fidelity where he was head of wealth and head of sales.
Derek Brander is also joining the firm, as head of UK wholesale. He comes from five years at Natixis Asset Management, where he was director of UK wholesale.
The hires are part of a plan to build on an “established presence” in the UK, says chief executive Naïm Abou-Jaoudé.
Candriam, previously known as Dexia Asset Management, was renamed in 2014 after it was acquired by New York Life Investment Management.
Since its acquisition assets at the group have increased by 40 per cent, says Abou-Jaoudé.
Renato Guerriero, global head of EMEA client relations, says: “In 2015, Candriam started an active European distribution push and the addition of two very senior and reputable investment professionals to our UK team represents a major milestone.”
Davies says: “I have always been impressed by Candriam’s experienced, skilled and dedicated investment teams. This established platform gives me great confidence in attracting UK investors to Candriam’s pan-European and global product portfolio.
“Derek’s wholesale and retail expertise is an excellent addition to the team. He is renowned for his work building Natixis Global Asset Management’s wholesale market from scratch, and I know he is keen to do the same here.”
