Former Schroders UK small and mid-cap manager Rosemary Banyard has joined Sanford DeLand Asset Management as investment director.
Banyard, who joins after a short break from her 18-year financial services career, will work alongside founder Keith Ashworth-Lord, who manages the UK Buffettology fund.
The fund employs ‘business perspective investing’ in its process – a strategy associated with US investor Warren Buffett and other disciples of his mentor Benjamin Graham.
Banyard has indicated the firm plans to launch more investment products.
While at Schroders, where she was co-head of the pan-European mid and small cap team, Banyard was responsible for approximately £1bn assets under management.
She says she shares “very similar” investment principle to Ashworth-Lord.
Chairman of SDL Asset Management Ian Page describes Banyard, who he has known for “many years”, as a “high calibre, well-respected fund manager” and “great communicator with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholder groups”.
“From her track record we have seen that through her clear and disciplined investment approach she has been able to deliver industry leading returns for her client portfolio and we hope to see this success replicated over the coming years.”
Since launch the Buffettology fund, which invests in UK stocks, has returned 116.7 per cent against the benchmark index of 48.9 per cent.
