BlackRock has launched a global absolute return fund using a multi-asset approach.
The BlackRock Macro Opportunities fund has a flexible mandate and has been launched as an alternative to investing in more traditional assets, investing across global equity, rates, credit and currency markets.
The fund is managed by Stuart Spodek with Yoni Saposh as deputy lead portfolio manager, who look to swiftly take advantage of market opportunities while managing risk.
Structured as a Luxembourg-domiciled open-ended fund with daily liquidity, the fund is aimed at high net worth investors and discretionary wealth managers.
Spodek says: “We are living in interesting times as investors. The global growth backdrop appears constructive and we believe has some runway, yet we expect the gradual unwind of highly accommodative central bank policies alongside potential for fiscal policy measures, particularly in the US, will have implications across markets.
“This environment is challenging many investors to rethink exposure to strategies that have delivered strong returns against a backdrop of falling rates and rising equity markets. Going forward, we believe adopting a flexible, dynamic, long/short approach to investing across markets can help investors achieve better outcomes.”
