Bestinvest is a private client investment group operating in over 30 locations across the UK. It provides independent investment advice, financial planning, wealth management and execution-only services to 70,000 clients. Clients' investments are generally in funds – unit trusts, OEICs and investment trusts – or bespoke discretionary funds.
The company currently has £9bn in assets under management.
Founded in 1986 by John Spiers, Bestinvest began as a specialist firm focused on researching and brokering tax-efficient investments including Business Expansion Schemes (BES), from which the company took its original name (BESt Investment). From the mid-1990s, it grew into a broader based private client investment advisory business.
The firm is also known for its high-profile Spot the Dog guide which names funds that have consistently and significantly underperformed.
