Axa Investment Managers have appointed Michael Ganske head of emerging markets fixed income.

Ganske, who starts next month, joins from Rogge Global Partners where he was partner and head of emerging markets.

He will lead a team of 10 investment professionals managing around €5bn of emerging market and Asian debt.

Ganske will report to Chris Iggo, CIO of fixed income.

John Porter, global head of fixed income at AXA IM, described Ganske as a “key appointment” and said the asset manager believed investors would “continue to find emerging market debt an attractive asset class”.

Axa IM announced in June that it would be launching a global emerging markets fixed income team.

“We have invested heavily in this team with the hire of Sailesh Lad, senior portfolio manager, and Olga Fedotova, head of EM credit research, last summer,” Porter said.

Ganske, a German national, holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Hohenheim.
