Franklin Templeton has nabbed Martyn Gilbey as its UK country head from Aberdeen Asset Management, ahead of its merger with Standard Life Investments.
Based in London, he will develop the firm’s retail and institutional businesses in the UK and offshore territories, starting from 1 August.
At Aberdeen, Gilbey was head of UK distribution leading a team of 40 and approximately £200bn of client assets.
He was previously head of wholesale distribution at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and has also worked at Mirae Asset Global Investment.
Gilbey will report to Vivek Kudva, managing director for EMEA and India.
Kudva says he will work closely to Gilbey to expand Franklin Templeton’s business in the UK.
“With over 24 years of financial services experience, 18 of which have been in investment management specifically, Martyn brings a wealth of expertise to grow our retail and institutional presence.”
