Invesco may launch pure strategic bond product

Invesco Perpetual is considering launching a Strategic Bond fund, Money Marketing, Fund Strategy’s sister publication, understands.

The firm’s £2.68 billion Monthly Income Plus (MIP) fund already sits in the Investment Management Association Strategic Bond sector and is managed by Paul Causer, Paul Read and Neil Woodford. It invests in high-yielding corporate and government bonds and British equities. But Invesco lacks a pure strategic bond fund.

Advisers say Read and Causer are the likely candidates to manage such a fund and suggest assets may move across from MIP if the group launches a strategic bond product.

Invesco Perpetual says: “Our product development team is always looking at ways of enhancing and strengthening our offering for our clients.
“Given the strength and expertise of our fixed income capability, this would be a natural area for them to be reviewing.”
